About Me

I bring banking-domain experience to software engineering. During two years at HiTRUST, I built and refactored internet banking functionality using Java, Spring Boot, Angular and SQL within a multi-year modernization project.

My work connected foreign-currency rules, bank messages, debit requests, transaction-state transitions and failure retries with application logic. I also refactored existing inquiry, scheduling, notification and data-access functionality into microservices—experience relevant to teams modernizing financial applications.

AWS and Terraform credentials, alongside graduate study in Applied Computer Science, complement that professional background. My personal projects provide additional evidence through AWS infrastructure implementation, financial data applications and a durable Go job queue with recovery mechanisms.

Software Engineer — HiTRUST

Jan 2023 – Dec 2024 | Digital Banking

Developed internet banking functionality with Angular, Java, Spring and Spring Boot as part of a multi-year application modernization project.

Refactored existing functionality into microservices across 4 areas: inquiry, scheduled processing, email notifications and data access.
Implemented and refactored workflows involving foreign-currency transaction rules and bank message formats.
Worked on scheduled processing that submitted debit requests to core banking systems, updated transaction statuses from response messages, and handled retries and failure-state transitions.
Refactored JDBC-based data access to Hibernate and worked with 2 database platforms: Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
Wrote unit tests, performed manual testing, and supported changes through QA and bank acceptance testing environments.

A personal systems project combining durable job processing, gRPC workers and a custom Raft implementation. Includes checksummed write-ahead logging, snapshots, retries, dead-letter handling and replicated job-state transitions.

Educational project with a runnable three-node demo. Unit and integration tests cover leader loss, disk recovery and stale worker acknowledgements.

A personal application connecting financial data workflows with APIs and a dashboard. Combines Python/FastAPI services, PostgreSQL persistence and a React/TypeScript interface, with Airflow ingestion and indicator-calculation workflows.
